37. Terminus Est

Armed with a glowing mace and an antigravity belt, Baldanders descends on Severian.  The islanders regroup around Severian and the giant.  As he squares off against Baldanders, Severian feels fear.

Baldanders and Severian circle each other at a distance, each aware of the power of the other’s weapon.  The giant strikes the ground and the walls with his mace and sends shards of stone flying.
