28. The Hetman’s Dinner

Severian enters the lakeside town at dusk and seeks out the house of the town’s leader.  He announces himself as a Master of the Order of the Seekers for Truth and Penitence and insinuates that he has been sent from the House Absolute.  The hetman is cowed into furnishing Severian with a lavish dinner.

While his meal is prepared, Severian cleans Terminus Est and examines the Claw by the fire.  He thumbs through the Wonders of Urth and Sky and thinks about Agia.
