32. The Samru

Following the coast, Severian arrives at the mouth of the River Gyoll.  He signals to a passing ship, the Samru, and is permitted aboard.  The captain and his crew treat Severian with reverence as they navigate up the river towards Nessus.

At rest on the ship, Severian begins to recover from his many wounds.  He sharpens the commander’s sword and engages in a display of showmanship.
