25. Typhon and Piaton

25. Typhon and Piaton

Armed with Terminus Est, Severian listens for footsteps.  Severian looks at the stars, thinking about the deaths of Little Severian and Jolenta.  Finding shelter, he falls asleep.

Severian prepares to leave the town in search of sustenance.  Before he can depart, he is accosted by a giant man with two heads.  Severian draws his sword but is placated by the unarmed creature.

The man identifies himself as the lifeless body from the roundhouse, restored.  He introduces his second head as his servant, Piaton.

Desperate, Severian requests food and water.  The man leads Severian to the round building and places him into a floating craft.  At a word, the vessel speeds away into the darkness.
