7. Hallvard’s Story – The Two Sealers

Hallvard relays a story of his homeland among the islands of the south.  He describes the farmland of his grandparents, which was to be divided between his uncles, Anskar and Gundolf.  

Anskar and Gundolf set sail to capture seals on a nearby island.  Only Gundolf returned home, claiming his boat capsized and his brother drowned.  Gundolf pointed to a frayed safety line as evidence of Anskar’s accidental death.
