13. Foila’s Story – The Armiger’s Daughter

Foila enters herself in the storytelling contest.  She describes the wide plains of her homeland and the villa of an armiger and his family.  The armiger sends word that his daughter is to be married.  Of many, all but three suitors are rejected. 

Devising a test to determine her husband, the daughter fastens a gold ring to the foot of a pet bird and sets it free.  She instructs the three men to search out and return the bird to her.
