The Monday Man

The Monday Man

A small-town attorney recalls a conversation that explains why his friend and local police officer, John Genaro, refuses to fish.

New to the force, John walks his beat.  A woman points out a man who has stolen her laundry, and John gives chase.  John loses track of the suspect and fears that he will be reprimanded by his superiors.

A neighborhood kid directs John to a five-story flophouse.  John searches the complex and locates the thief in a bare room on the uppermost floor.  Snapping handcuffs on his wrists, John hauls the man into the stairwell and towards the exit.

Displaying uncanny strength, the captive drags the policeman back up the stairs.  John lands a punch across the man’s jaw and finds his knuckles stuck to an uncanny face.

John wrestles the man out of the building before being wrenched back inside and upstairs.  The officer delivers a series of kicks, but the thief absorbs the blows, unphased.
