A Method Bit in “B”
A small-town constable takes in a late-night movie and walks through a dense fog to begin his shift. He reflects on the limits of his memory beyond the recent and strange occurrences at Breakchain House.
The officer recalls the arrival of a dog-faced man to town and his habit of sitting in view of the moon.
A bewildered butler phones in an emergency. The policeman rushes to the manor house and assembles in its library Lord and Lady Breakchain, Talbot, an American girl, and a professor of the occult. The constable interviews each and learns of an otherworldly creature on the prowl.
The officer returns to town and is surprised to find the local pub lively despite the late hour. Taking a seat at the bar, he finds his beer replaced with ginger ale. The constable inspects the drinks of the other patrons only to find each an imitation of liquor.
