9. The House Azure

Roche and Severian arrive at a brothel known as the House Azure.  A man in a yellow robe greets them and leads them to a large room where they are to select their prostitutes for the night.  A bell rings and a woman enters the room.  She is introduced as the Chatelaine Barbea and it is insinuated that she and the other women are the Autarch’s personal consorts.  Severian is skeptical.
