7. Attractions

Following his escapade with Cyriaca, Severian reflects on Thecla, Dorcas, Thea, and Jolenta.  

Severian and Cyriaca wash in a nearby fountain before resuming their conversation.  She describes a visit to the House Absolute in which she was validated by directions to the Autarch’s harem.  Referencing her husband, Cyriaca confides her repeated infidelities to Severian, who comforts her.
