6. Too Deare

Meeting with Gideon over breakfast, Cassie shares her distress at being left alone with Reis.  She describes their late-night drive and an inquiry into her unworn bracelet.  

Cassie wonders how Reis managed to locate her so rapidly.  Suspecting them to be under surveillance, Gideon speculates that Reis’ gift might contain a tracking device.  Cassie tells Gideon about the solid gold band, the premise of Dating the Volcano God, and the use of a pseudonym by Reis.  Gideon asks to see the jewelry, and Cassie agrees to arrange a meeting with Margaret.  

To satisfy Gideon’s curiosity, Cassie describes being walked as far as her apartment door by Reis.  She mentions watching for Reis from her balcony but failing to see him return to his limousine.
