4. The Bouquet

Returning to the inn, Severian reflects on Agia’s disappearance and recalls his visits with Thecla imprisoned.  

Severian changes into his torturer’s habit, while Jonas prepares Terminus Est for the execution of Morwenna and a cattle thief.  Jonas asks Severian whether he believes Morwenna to be innocent.  Severian rejects the notion.
