25. The Attack on the Hierodules

During the play, Severian observes the audience of exultants and others.

Departing from the script, Baldanders lunges from the stage and rampages through the crowd.  Several spectators fight back, but Baldanders is unfazed.  

Severian notices several figures remove masks to reveal alien faces.  Startled by the appearance of the non-human cacogens, Severian retrieves Terminus Est and flees.  He searches unsuccessfully for Dorcas before departing the Green Room.
