25. Afterward

Disembarking in Australia, Cassie lives on the streets until the American government brings her home.

Cassie discovers her apartment and possessions lost in her absence.  She visits the bank, where a teller produces a book of checks and a credit card.  Ashamed of her appearance, Cassie admits to avoiding Margaret in the street.

After buying a cell phone and renting an apartment, Cassie places a call to Miskatonic University.  She inquires after Gideon but learns that he is on leave from the faculty having been appointed ambassador to Woldercan.
