22. Dorcas

Severian  and Agia enter the Garden of Endless Sleep, an expansive marsh surrounding an immense lake. Agia points out the avern flowers across the water.  She tells Severian that many dead are buried in the garden but Severian does not notice any grave markers.  Agia explains that the lake itself is a burial ground with preservative properties.
