19. The Botanic Gardens

Severian and Agia discuss religion as they walk from the Cathedral of the Pelerines to the Botanic Gardens.  Agia indicates that the Claw of the Conciliator is rumored to heal the injured and raise the dead. Severian grows suspicious of Agia and asks whether she and her brother, Agilus, are deceiving him. Agia rebuffs the allegation and insists that Severian kiss her.
