15. Death and Death’s Visitors

India asks about Cassie’s clandestine call but learns little.  Cassie debates the merits and morality of traveling with Reis.  The director offers encouragement to her star actress.

Citing rave reviews, India tells Cassie that Dating the Volcano God is to prepare for a Broadway run.  Cassie frets over the missing Margaret.  

India departs, and Cassie opens an envelope sent by Reis.  Inside, she finds an amorous letter promising an escort to paradise. Cassie, conflicted, laments having few friends and confidants. 

Norma offers to return to their hotel with Cassie.  Accepting the invitation, Cassie unburdens her concerns over Rosenquist.  Recalling her failed marriage to Vince, Norma offers comradery.

Leaving the theater, Cassie describes her first date with Rosenquist and his breaking into her apartment.  She ruminates on her infatuation with the mogul and wonders whether she should travel with him.  Norma supports Cassie pursuing the relationship.
