12. Royalty in Reality

Cassie confides in Margaret that she received a call from Gideon.  She wonders aloud how he managed to reach her private phone line.  

As she prepares to appear on stage, Cassie spots India and Zelda together in the wings.  The pair vanish, withdrawing to Cassie’s dressing room.  Distrustful of their alliance, Cassie confronts India and Zelda after the show.  Zelda admits to riding her new hopper to Springfield to finalize with India a recording deal for Cassie.  After some negotiation, Cassie signs the contract and Zelda departs.

 Cassie tells India about being visited by a pair of Agents Martin, one real and one imposter.  India offers a downbeat assessment, seconded by Margaret.  Cassie is reminded of a man outside her apartment and the policemen that drove her from the ice cream parlor to Gideon.  Ebony arrives with refreshments and joins the discussion.

India and Ebony describe Dean’s one-legged replacement, Gil Corby.

Cassie leaves the theater to find an idling limousine, its rear door opened by an armed chauffeur.  His voice emanating from the passenger compartment, Reis offers Cassie a gift and a ride.  Cassie resists the invitation before relenting.
